2027 vs 2026: your take-home

You're €7.66 a week better off
+€7.66 a week · +€33 a month · +€399 a year
| A year | 2026 | 2027 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Income tax | €5,200 | €4,750 | −€450 |
| USC | €883 | €867 | −€16 |
| PRSI | €1,907 | €1,974 | +€67 |
| Take-home | €37,010 | €37,409 | +€399 |
PRSI went from 4.2% to 4.35% on 1 October 2026, so 2027 has a full year at the higher rate (plus any 2027 change in the Budget 2027 documents). That is why PRSI can rise while income tax falls. Estimate only, not financial or tax advice.

How we worked it out:
- You're an employee paid through PAYE for the full year, on PRSI Class A.
- You get the personal tax credit and the employee (PAYE) tax credit only. No other credits or reliefs.
- No pension contributions, including auto-enrolment (MyFutureFund). No benefit-in-kind.
- Standard USC rates (not the reduced rate for medical card holders or people aged 70 and over).
- 2026 PRSI is 4.2% for January to September and 4.35% from 1 October. 2027 PRSI is 4.35% for January to September and 4.5% from 1 October 2027 (already set in law by the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2024).
- Figures are rounded to the nearest euro, so the differences may be €1 off the columns.
- The 8% USC rate starts above €70,044. One list in the Budget 2027 Tax Policy Changes document prints €70,444, but its own Table 2 (single person, USC of €2,015 on €75,000) and Example 8 (USC of €3,856) only work with €70,044, so we treat €70,444 as a misprint.
- This is an estimate. Your payslip can differ.
Based on published Irish tax bands; not advice. Estimate based on published Revenue and DSP rates for the selected year. Covers employees, sole traders and common credits. Estimate only, not financial or tax advice. Check complex cases with Revenue.
